The project is an urban development initiative along the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Axis in Jeddah, aimed at enhancing the urban environment within the axis. This involves a thorough analysis of the current situation to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and constraints, with the ultimate goal of developing policies, alternatives, and solutions. The outcome is a proposed design that includes a new general plan and additional urban elements designed to facilitate human activities and provide various services, ensuring the environment is suitable for all users of the axis.
Originally, the axis was equipped with athletic tracks, seating areas for walkers, children's play areas, and public service facilities to meet the needs of its visitors. However, the region, particularly the axis, is currently facing several urban and environmental challenges. These challenges include a deviation from the original activities of the axis, which has affected the urban ambiance and the environmental quality for visitors. Additionally, there is a noticeable lack of activities and social elements that meet the needs of the users, adversely affecting the overall user experience in the region.
The project aims to enhance the connectivity between the hub and both the local and visiting populations, providing essential services and improvements needed to more comprehensively address human needs. By leveraging economic inputs, the project seeks to attract socio-economic benefits and achieve a central vision that highlights important landmarks and buildings both visually and physically. It intends to infuse the axis with a unique spirit by integrating exciting and thrilling elements alongside urban improvements, developing a sustainable and replicable urban model that addresses critical issues in Jeddah. The project also plans to establish venues that envision future gatherings, aligning with Jeddah's religious and socio-political context, and transform the axis into one of Jeddah's most significant attractions for visitors. Additionally, it aims to implement advanced traffic solutions to manage flow and reduce accidents, thereby improving safety for both vehicles and pedestrians, enhance current activities in the axis to broaden and strengthen the diversity of available activities, and create an internal climate within the axis that ensures comfort for visitors at most times of the day, including peak hours.
